2024 Luxury Home Tour

The McDonald Remodeling team is excited to feature this incredible home during the Midwest Home 2024 Luxury Home Tour! After meeting with this lovely family, we created a plan to update their new-to-them home to fit their needs. Throughout this renovation, we aimed to design solutions that improved their home while honoring its classic charm.

In line with our mission, retaining the existing millwork and architectural features was a must, as well as any new finishes needed to complement the 100-year-old home. The owner’s style is a mix of clean, modern lines and unexpected elements, a true balance of the old and the new. A few of our favorite unique finishes include the vintage-style push-button electrical plates, fun pops of wallpaper, custom-installed concrete tile in the primary bathroom, and a new upper stair railing that’s meant to feel original to the home.

The jewel of the main floor is the gorgeous kitchen. Planned carefully around cooking and family life, everything is highly functional and organized. Bright colors, wallpaper, and mixed finishes bring character and playfulness to the space. The eat-in breakfast nook has the home’s original benches and table but has been updated with modern light fixtures and whimsical wallpaper. Finishing out the kitchen are natural marble and butcher block countertops and a custom marble slab front apron sink.
